Three-dimensional mineral dendrites reveal a nonclassical crystallization pathway

چکیده
Abstract Manganese (Mn) dendrites are a common type of mineral dendrite that typically forms two-dimensional structures on rock surfaces. Three-dimensional (3-D) Mn in rocks have rarely been reported, and so their growth implications largely escaped attention. Here, we combined high-resolution X-ray electron-based data with numerical modeling to give the first detailed description natural 3-D (in clinoptilolite tuffs) elucidate dynamics. Our show occurred by accretion Mn-oxide nanoparticles formed when Mn-bearing fluids mixed oxygenated pore water. The geometry resulting is sensitive ion concentrations, volume infiltrating fluid, number fluid pulses; thus, record hydrogeochemical history.

Mesocrystals and Nonclassical Crystallization
This chapter presents a history of observations that crystallization can go well beyond the simple ‘expected’ behaviour found in the salt cellar or when you buy a chemical. Biomorphs, crystal gardens, ‘crystal souls’, but also the remarkable pattern and structures of biominerals made researchers think that there is something beyond the concept of the bare three-dimensional regularity of molecul...

The scaling behavior of geometry parameters in three-dimensional dendritic growth is investigated through a detailed measurement of the morphology of pure succinonitrile dendrites grown on the first microgravity flight of the isothermal dendritic growth experiment @M. متن کاملThe Three-Dimensional Morphology of Growing Dendrites
The processes controlling the morphology of dendrites have been of great interest to a wide range of communities, since they are examples of an out-of-equilibrium pattern forming system, there is a clear connection with battery failure processes, and their morphology sets the properties of many metallic alloys. We determine the three-dimensional morphology of free growing metallic dendrites usi...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Image of A Communicating Uterus
Recent advances in reproductive medicine have created a demand for more accurate and safe imaging modalities before assisted reproductive treatment(ART) (1). Gradually, the important role of three-dimensional (3D) ultrasonography in the diagnosis of uterine congenital anomalies has been proved (2-4).
